Naeemah LaFond is Bridging the Education Gap Around Black Ha

Many Black fashion models have shared their shocking stories of stylists backstage or on set who are not equipped to handle their hair type. We have all heard or seen these stories by now. But instead of letting them repeat endlessly, stylist Naeemah LaFond — who has created stunning and statement-making hairstyles for magazines, runways and campaigns for years — is turning them into an opportunity for change with a new event called Texture on Set.

Set to occur this month in Brooklyn, New York, Texture on Set is a first-of-its-sort instructive occasion. For LaFond, its coordinator, it’s been bound to happen: For a really long time, hairstylists have requested that she put on a masterclass for Black hair in the design space. While the thought was consistently in her sub-conscience, it was only after she talked with the individuals from her mentee bunch, Black on Set, that she realized the time had come to take action

The day-long masterclass will be an instructive and intelligent experience like no other, as indicated by LaFond. Features include: a bit by bit, active demo of how to work with Black hair for photograph shoots and for the runway, complete with a live photograph shoot; an in-person Q&A with LaFond; a portion on references; and a board conversation with industry specialists examining the subtleties of working with natural hair on set.

For the last option, LaFond especially picked the specialists who will join her, including Cosmopolitan Beauty Editor-at-Large Julee Wilson, Allure Editor-in-Chief Jessica Cruel, photographic artist and Creative Directo of Fe Noel Itaysha Jordan and model Danielle Mareka. Platforming a blend of experts that work across different features of the excellence space considers “these alternate points of view” on the subtleties of working with natural hair, LaFond says.

The inclusion of live exhibits is for individuals to see what really occurs with textured hair on set. It can be tedious and troublesome on the set and fast paced environments.
