Ugandan MP Muhammad Ssegirinya Dies in Hospital

 

Muhammad Ssegirinya, the Member of Parliament representing Kawempe North constituency in Uganda, has passed away at Lubaga Hospital, according to an official statement released by the medical facility. The legislator died on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 12:10 pm while receiving treatment.

“With deep sorrow, Lubaga Hospital announces the passing of Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, the Honorable Member of Parliament for Kawempe North,” read the statement from the hospital. “Hon. Ssegirinya has been under the dedicated care of our medical team at Lubaga Hospital. Despite all efforts to ensure his recovery, he passed away today, Thursday, 9th January 2025, at 12:10 pm.”

The announcement marks the end of Ssegirinya’s service to his constituents in Kawempe North, where he had been representing their interests in Uganda’s Parliament. His passing represents a significant loss to both his constituency and Uganda’s legislative body.
